COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh for Volvo: Specialized Suede and Velour Leather Care

What is COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh for Volvo? — This specialized suede and nubuck care preserves the structure and color of rough natural leathers in Volvo interiors — specially developed for velour, nubuck, and Alcantara.

COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh (Volvo) is a special care dye for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour surfaces in Volvo leather interiors. Unlike Leather Colour or Leather Fresh, Nubuck Fresh is not intended for smooth pigmented leather — the formulation is designed to preserve the fine fiber structure of suede and prevent matting.

Suede-specific – Specially formulated for rough-textured natural leathers.
Maintains Velour Appearance – Prevents fiber matting or smoothing.
Original Volvo Shades – Factory-matched pigmentation for seamless care.

💡 Pro Tip from Detailing1 Workshop: We often see the same user error with Volvo suede seats — customers treat the suede with normal smooth leather care, which then mats the fibers and makes them look flattened. With Nubuck Fresh (Volvo) and a fine brass brush in a 5-minute care routine, the typical velour appearance is maintained. After drying, lightly brush again — then the fibers will be velvety again.

Brush dry, spray, work in the direction of the fibers

Nubuk Fresh (Volvo) is evenly sprayed onto the suede from a distance of 20–30 cm with a spray bottle and worked in the direction of the fibers with a soft brush. After drying, brush again for the typical velour appearance.

Before care, the suede is dry-brushed with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush to remove dust and ingrained dirt. Then, it is damp-cleaned with a special suede cleaner and allowed to dry completely. Only then is Nubuk Fresh (Volvo) sprayed from a distance of 20–30 cm — avoid puddling, spread immediately.

The color is worked into the direction of the fibers with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush until the pigmentation is evenly distributed. After 30–45 minutes of drying, the leather is lightly brushed again so that the fibers stand up and the typical velvety-matte velour appearance is created. A 250 ml bottle is sufficient for approximately 4–5 care applications on mid-range vehicles with Alcantara steering wheels and suede seats.

Suede and Velour yes, Smooth Leather no

Nubuk Fresh (Volvo) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leathers — suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented Volvo smooth leathers are treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes combines with the rough fiber structure without matting or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuck Fresh would adhere unevenly because the typical fiber structure is missing — the care would appear blotchy instead of even. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are needed.

If the Volvo vehicle has real suede seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuck Fresh is the only correct care. If the interior, on the other hand, consists of pigmented smooth leather, Leather Fresh (Volvo) or Leather Colour (Volvo) is used. In the case of mixed upholstery (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.

For suede seats and Alcantara steering wheels

Nubuk Fresh (Volvo) is the care solution for owners and detailers with genuine suede or Alcantara components — applied every 6–12 months, it keeps the leather velvety and color-stable permanently.

Suede and velour leather soil faster than smooth leather and fade more under UV light. The care routine every 6–12 months prevents deep penetration of dirt and protects the fiber from permanent fading. For heavily used vehicles or family cars, a 3-month cycle is also worthwhile. An application takes about 45 minutes per pair of seats, including brushing and drying — costs per application are about 6 euros in material costs.

For pigmented smooth leather components in the same vehicle, Leather Fresh (Volvo) is used — both products complement each other in the workflow. Those looking for a complete care bundle for suede and smooth leather can also check out the Leather Care Set (Volvo), which contains both components.

What is COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh for Volvo?

COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh (Volvo) is a specialized color treatment for textured suede, nubuck, and velour surfaces in Volvo interiors. It maintains structure and color without matting the fibers.

Does Nubuck Fresh also work on smooth leather?

No, Nubuck Fresh is formulated exclusively for textured suede, nubuck, and velour. On pigmented smooth leather, it would appear uneven – for smooth leather, Leather Colour or Leather Fresh (Volvo) should be used.

How do I apply Nubuck Fresh correctly?

First, brush suede dry and clean with a suede cleaner. Spray Nubuck Fresh evenly from a distance of 20–30 cm. Work it in with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush. Let it dry, then brush again for a velvety look.

How often should I use suede care products?

As part of your care routine, every 6–12 months. For frequent drivers, family vehicles, or leased cars being returned, every 3–6 months, as suede gets dirty and fades faster than smooth leather.

What are the most common mistakes we see?

Three classics: (1) Using smooth leather care on suede – fibers get matted. (2) Not dusting/brushing beforehand – color appears uneven. (3) Not brushing after drying – velour look remains flat.

Do I need special brushes?

Yes, a soft suede brush (crepe/natural rubber) or fine brass brush is essential. Regular cleaning cloths would press down the fibers instead of raising them. Brushes are available as accessories from us.

Care instructions for suede care (Volvo):

Nubuk Fresh (Volvo) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leathers — suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented Volvo smooth leathers are treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes bonds with the rough fiber structure without sticking or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuk Fresh would adhere unevenly because the typical fiber structure is missing — the care would appear spotty instead of even. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are needed.

If the Volvo vehicle has real suede seats, Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuk Fresh is the only correct care product. If, on the other hand, the interior consists of pigmented smooth leather, Leather Fresh (Volvo) or Leather Colour (Volvo) is used. In the case of mixed equipment (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.
