Two-layer foam applicator for coatings, waxes and care products

The ZviZZer applicator block is a dual-layer foam applicator measuring 10 by 3 by 2 centimeters, featuring a soft application side and a firm grip side. It applies coatings, sealants, waxes, and plastic care products thinly and evenly by hand, and even with minimal product loss when covered with an applicator cloth. For those who want to apply protective products in a controlled manner rather than smearing them.

Place the block into the low-absorbency applicator cloth and apply in two cross-coats per section — first lengthwise, then crosswise. For coatings, apply 10 to 15 drops to the covered cloth, work panel by panel, allow to flash off for 1 to 3 minutes, then buff off with a fresh microfiber cloth. The surface must be clean, dry, and degreased. Use a separate block for each product type. After using wax, rinse under running water and dry; store in a dry, dust-free place.

Lay sealant on by hand, thin and even

What is the ZviZZer Applicator Block? A two-layer foam applicator with a soft application side and a firm grip side that lays coatings, sealants, waxes and plastic care down thin and even by hand. It doesn't polish anything out and it removes no scratches — buffing off is the microfibre's job.

The ZviZZer Applicator Block is a handy application applicator from ZviZZer measuring 10 by 3 by 2 centimetres. It's built in two layers: the soft pad side lays the product evenly onto the surface, the firm side gives you grip in the hand. For sparingly dosed products like ceramic coatings, you wrap the low-absorption applicator cloth around the block.

  • Handy block at 10 by 3 by 2 centimetres. The shape sits flat in your hand and runs cleanly along edges and body lines. The two layers split the jobs: soft side lays it down, firm side holds — so you dose with control instead of smearing.
  • Even application with no wasted product. Wrapped in the applicator cloth, the block barely soaks anything up, so 10 to 15 drops of coating cover a whole side of the car. A bare foam sponge would just drink part of that away.
  • Reusable across many application runs. After wax or care jobs, wring the block out under running water and let it dry — that way one block easily takes 10 or more uses. Cured coatings are the exception: there the block stays tied to that one coating.

Detailing1's tip from the shop: The most common mistake is using a single applicator for everything. A block you use first for a coating and then for a wax drags cured residue and silicone oils into the next layer — the coating then bonds patchy. Set up a separate block per product type and mark it. And lay it on thin: two cross passes per section are enough. What we see day-to-day, most failed coatings don't fail on the product but on a contaminated applicator.

Wrap it in cloth, two cross passes per section

You set the applicator block into the low-absorption applicator cloth and pull two overlapping cross passes per section — first lengthwise, then across, so no gap is left.

The condition is a clean, dry and degreased surface. For coatings you put 10 to 15 drops onto the wrapped applicator cloth, work panel by panel and let it flash off for 1 to 3 minutes before you buff with a fresh microfibre. Work briskly — otherwise the coating dries on and pulls streaks.

With waxes and plastic care, the soft pad side can also go straight onto the material without a cloth. A thin, even layer is enough; after a short flash-off, follow up by hand with microfibre. Other accessories like fresh microfibre cloths belong to the same step.

It lays on, it doesn't polish

The applicator block is a pure application tool: it spreads product evenly, but it removes no scratches, swirls or oxidation and it doesn't take the product off at the end.

Defects belong before the applicator: correction and gloss are the job of a machine polish like the prep one-step polish ahead of the ceramic sealant, and buffing off the applied layer is the job of a clean microfibre. The block sits neatly in between — it brings the protective layer onto the prepped panel.

The second clear limit is cross-contamination. Once a coating has cured on the block, it can't be washed out fully anymore — then the block belongs to the coating and no longer to the wax. Keep things cleanly separated and one block lasts a long time. Mix them and you ruin the next sealant.

For anyone laying on coatings and waxes

The applicator block is the right call for anyone applying sealants, coatings, waxes or tyre care by hand who wants a controlled, even result with no wasted product.

It makes less sense for pure machine work: if you only polish, you need thermo foam pads, not a hand applicator. And for taking a polish off, a microfibre is the right tool, not the block. We often get questions from beginners about whether their first coating application by hand will come out right — with a block plus cloth and a thin coat, that's one of the most forgiving spots in the whole coating process.

The ZviZZer Ceramic Coatings sets each include one block plus cloth. If you want to apply several products separately, or you're replacing a worn-out block, you buy it here as a single piece. The one trick no manufacturer writes down: label your blocks by product — a felt-pen dot on the grip side saves you the detective work later when a sealant unexpectedly blotches.

Frequently asked questions about the ZviZZer Applicator Block

What is an applicator block and what is it used for?

The ZviZZer Applicator Block is a dual-layer foam applicator (10 by 3 by 2 centimeters) with a soft application side and a firm grip side. It applies coatings, sealants, waxes, and plastic care products evenly by hand. Correction or polishing is not among its intended tasks.

How do I apply a sealant with the applicator block?

Place the block into the low-absorbency applicator cloth, apply 10 to 15 drops to the cloth, and apply in two cross-coats per section. Work panel by panel, let flash off for 1 to 3 minutes, then buff off with a fresh microfiber cloth. Work quickly, otherwise the coating will dry.

What is the difference between an applicator block and an applicator cloth?

The block serves as a base and grip, while the applicator cloth is the low-absorbency contact layer for coatings. Combine both for economical coating application. For waxes or dressings, the soft pad side of the block is often sufficient even without a cloth.

Should I apply to a dry or damp surface?

Always apply to a clean, dry, and degreased surface. For coatings, the layer only adheres fully to wax-free, grease-free paint. Moisture or wax residue significantly reduces durability. For waxes, a clean, dry paint surface is sufficient.

Can the same block be used for coating and wax?

No. Hardened coating residues and silicone oils will be carried over, causing the next layer to adhere unevenly or patchily. Keep a separate, marked block for each product type. Once a coating has cured in the foam, that block should be reserved specifically for that coating.

Is the applicator block reusable and suitable for beginners?

After wax and care product applications, wash out under running water, dry, and it is ready for use again. Manual application using the block and cloth with a thin layer is forgiving even for beginners — one of the easiest stages in the coating process. Hardened coatings cannot be completely washed out.

Just ask us. Daniel will help you.

Using the ZviZZer applicator block

From drops on the pad to an even layer

The surface must be clean, dry, and degreased. A coating will not adhere fully to waxed or damp paint, and its durability will be reduced.

Place the block into the low-absorbency applicator cloth so that the soft pad side forms the contact surface. For coatings, apply 10 to 15 drops directly onto the cloth; for waxes, apply a thin layer to the pad.

Apply in two overlapping cross-patterns per section, first lengthways, then widthways. Work panel by panel and allow the layer to flash off for 1 to 3 minutes until it becomes matte. Then buff with a fresh microfiber cloth until the surface shines streak-free.

Working quickly is important: if a coating dries before you buff it, streaks and high spots will remain, which are difficult to remove once cured. Use a separate block for each product type—it is best to keep the appropriate accessories stored separately.

Notes: The block is for application only; it does not polish or remove scratches—correct defects beforehand using polish. A block on which a coating has cured must be reserved for that specific coating and cannot be reused for wax. After use with wax or care products, rinse under running water, squeeze out, and let dry. Do not soak in aggressive solvents; rinse only briefly. Store in a dry, dust-free place.
