Griglie separasporco

(5 prodotti)
Bucket inserts are plastic components for a car wash bucket: A Grit Guard at the bottom of the bucket keeps settled sand below the grate, a washboard provides a scrubbing surface for the wash mitt on the wall, and a caddy organizes tools above the water. Each insert is designed for a specific bucket shape and only works when securely fitted and used calmly; it does not replace pre-washing or changing the water.

  • Griglie separasporco

Frequently Asked Questions about Bucket Inserts

    What is a Grit Guard?

A Grit Guard is a plastic dirt trap that sits at the bottom of a wash bucket. Its grid stands on a base of vanes that calms the water underneath, allowing settled sand to remain trapped. The top serves as a friction surface for the wash mitt. The principle dates back to a 2002 US patent application; today, the product name Grit Guard represents inserts from several manufacturers.

Should I rub the wash mitt over the insert or just dunk it?

Both, but do it gently. Submerge the mitt, pull it over the grid surface with light pressure, and squeeze it out. Aggressive plunging or scrubbing pushes water through the grid and can swirl settled particles back up. If you want to scrub the mitt more thoroughly, use a washboard on the bucket wall instead of applying more pressure at the bottom.

What is the difference between a dirt trap, a washboard, and a bucket caddy?

The dirt trap lies at the bottom and keeps settled sand under the grid. The washboard stands vertically against the bucket wall and is used for scrubbing the mitt; Koch-Chemie recommends it as a supplement to the trap. The caddy sits just below the rim of the bucket and organizes tools in compartments. It does not have a washing function and does not belong in the rinse water.

Which bucket sizes fit a Grit Guard?

That depends on the insert; there is no universal size. Meguiar's specifies a diameter of approximately 25.7 cm for their Grit Guard, which fits most 3.5 to 5 US gallon buckets. For the Meguiars PROFESSIONAL Grit Guard dirt trap, we specify buckets with a diameter of 26 to 32 cm. Hardware store buckets that taper toward the bottom often do not fit.

What should I do if the insert doesn't reach the bottom of the bucket or floats?

First, push it all the way to the bottom with firm pressure, even if it feels unusually tight. If the insert stays in place in a full bucket afterward, it fits; a small gap at the bottom is acceptable. If it keeps moving or floats, it is not compatible with the bucket shape, which usually happens with buckets that narrow toward the bottom. In that case, an insert from the same bucket system will help.

Do I need an insert in both buckets?

Yes, a dirt trap belongs in every bucket that a mitt enters: in the rinse bucket so that washed-out sand stays at the bottom, and in the shampoo bucket so that any particles that get in regardless do not return to the mitt. A washboard is also worthwhile in the rinse bucket. The process is explained in our guide on the two-bucket method.

Insert, check and clean the bucket insert

    1. Check the bucket system. Compare the bucket brand or inner diameter with the specifications of the insert. For buckets that taper towards the bottom, test the fit while dry before the first wash.
    2. Insert and push to the bottom. Place the insert straight into the bucket (grit guard flat, washboard and board against the wall) and push down firmly until it rests on the bottom or is firmly wedged in place.
    3. Fill with water and check the fit. Fill the bucket and check whether the insert stays in place. If it floats or shifts, it is not compatible with this bucket shape.
    4. Gently rub and wring out. Immerse the glove, pull it over the grid with light pressure, wring it out, and lift slowly. Use the washboard on the bucket wall for more intensive scrubbing, not more pressure on the bottom.
    5. Rinse and dry after washing. Remove the insert, rinse out the sludge from underneath the grid, and let everything dry before placing it back into the bucket.
