Applicatori in spugna

(6 prodotti)
Foam applicators are handheld sponges used to apply hard wax, hand polish, as well as plastic and leather care products thinly and evenly to your car. The product range extends from the compact "Puck" hand polishing sponge, round grip sponges, and semi-circular wax applicators to large wax blocks for Dr. Wack spray wax. The cell structure and shape determine how much product remains in the foam; they are not intended for coatings or use with a polishing machine.

  • Applicatori in spugna

Frequently Asked Questions about Foam Applicators

Which foam applicator is suitable for applying wax?

Compact sponges such as the GYEON Q²M WaxApplicator or the Koch-Chemie hand polishing sponge "Puck," which Koch-Chemie intends for use with Hand Wax W0.01, are suitable for hard waxes and wax pastes. For its spray wax A1 Speed Wax Plus 3, Dr. Wack has selected the large Dr. Wack "A1" A1 "THE WAX SPONGE". The Wax Sealing page explains how thinly wax should be applied.

Can I polish by hand with a foam applicator?

Yes, for a finish polish on a limited area. Koch-Chemie calls the Puck a hand polishing sponge, and the INNOVACAR "Foam App" is designed for hand polishing. However, INNOVACAR states itself that it does not replace machine polishing for genuine paint correction. Scratches across the entire bodywork require a machine from our Polishing Machines section with the appropriate pad.

Open-cell or closed-cell foam, how do I tell the difference?

According to the blowing test by Mike Phillips: Place your lips on the dry foam and blow. If the air passes through easily, it is open-cell and draws the product into the interior. If it backs up, the foam tends to keep the product on the surface. INNOVACAR explicitly states the Foam App is open-cell, and Dr. Wack describes the WAX SPONGE as open-pored.

Can a wax sponge be used on matte paint or matte wrap?

The Dr. Wack A1 "THE WAX SPONGE" cannot. Dr. Wack approves it for clear coat and gloss film, but explicitly not for matte paint or matte wrap, not for polishes, and not for machine use. On matte paint, wax can leave behind glossy spots. Matte surfaces require specific care products; if in doubt, ask us before the first application.

Can I use the same sponge for polish and wax?

It is better not to. Foam retains residues of the last product in its cell structure, and polish residue in a wax sponge will end up in the next wax film. Use one sponge per product. Dr. Wack explicitly does not approve the WAX SPONGE for polishes. The GYEON Q²M WaxApplicator is available in 2-packs and 10-packs, so one can be permanently reserved for wax.

How do I clean a foam applicator?

Wash it out immediately after work before any wax or care residues dry in the foam. INNOVACAR recommends lukewarm water for the Foam App and air-drying without heat. Foam does not tolerate prolonged soaking in solvents. How to wash applicators in detail is explained on the Microfiber Applicators page.
