Spazzole per pneumatici

(1 prodotti)
Tire brushes are compact hand brushes with stiff, chemical-resistant synthetic bristles for the tire sidewall. Used in combination with a tire cleaner, they remove the brown, adhesive layer of oxidized protectants and old residue that a wash mitt would simply glide over, thereby preparing the surface for tire dressing. The GYEON Q²M TireBrush is available in our range; for rims, there are dedicated, softer rim brushes.

Frequently asked questions about tire brushes

    What is a tire brush?

A tire brush is a compact hand brush with stiff synthetic bristles designed for the tire sidewall. Used together with a tire cleaner, it removes the brown, adhesive layer and old product residues that a wash mitt would simply glide over. In our range, we carry the GYEON Q²M TireBrush, which GYEON describes as having stiff, fully synthetic bristles and a chemical-resistant handle.

Why do tires turn brown and can you remove it with the brush?

The browning comes from the tire itself: anti-aging agents migrate to the surface and oxidize there. With tire cleaner and a brush, you can remove this layer; on a sidewall that hasn't been cleaned in a long time, this may take several passes until the foam no longer turns brown. No brush can permanently prevent this, as the tire continues to release these agents. Learn more in our article Tires turning brown.

Do I need a separate tire brush or is a wheel brush enough?

For a thoroughly cleaned sidewall, you need a dedicated one. Wheel brushes are designed to be soft so they don't scratch wheel finishes, which is why they slide over the sticky layer on the rubber. Conversely, a stiff tire brush should not be used on wheels. Separate tools also prevent brake dust from migrating between the rim and the tire. You can find the soft counterparts under wheel brushes.

Do I have to scrub the tire sidewall before applying tire shine?

Yes, before every new dressing. Tire shine applied to an uncleaned sidewall sits on top of old product and oxidized layers instead of on the rubber, leading to a blotchy finish that can end up as spots on the wheel arch after the first drive. If you aren't going to apply protection afterward, it is better to leave the layer, as it protects the rubber. The full process is explained in our article Cleaning tires.

Which cleaner goes with a tire brush?

A tire cleaner that dissolves the film on the rubber before you scrub. In the GYEON system, this is the GYEON Q²M TireCleaner. If you want to cover tires and exterior plastics with one product, use the SONAX XTREME Tire & Plastic Cleaner. Tire experts advise against using abrasive cleaners or vinegar on rubber. You can find our selection under tire cleaners.

Will the tire brush scratch the wheel if I slip?

GYEON describes the Q²M TireBrush as being designed not to scratch the wheel, so a brief slip onto the rim edge is not a disaster. This applies to clean bristles. If brake dust or sand is trapped in them, any tool acts like an abrasive. Therefore, rinse the brush with clean water periodically and do not use it intentionally on the wheel; there are softer wheel brushes for that purpose.
