GYEON Q²M Bathe washes without touching your coatings or waxes

What is GYEON Q²M Bathe? A pH-neutral car shampoo from the Q²M line that washes with thick foam and high lubricity, without stripping ceramic coatings, waxes or sealants. It's not the tool for baked-on bug splatter, tar or brake dust on paint — those need dedicated cleaners.

GYEON Bathe is a pH-neutral car shampoo from GYEON that lifts road grime and loose dirt at a 1:500 dilution without chemically attacking the protection layer on your paint. GYEON Bathe is a maintenance shampoo for coated cars — the pH sits at 6, the formula runs on mild surfactants and throws a dense foam blanket that builds up just as well in the wash mitt as out of a foam lance.

That heavy foam isn't there for show, it's part of how the wash works. The foam holds the lifted dirt in suspension before it can drop back onto the paint. The slickness between mitt and paint cuts micro-scratches far harder than plain dish-soap formulas ever will.

That's exactly where it splits from cheap supermarket shampoo. With those, the cleaning punch is aggressive and strips your existing wax along with the dirt. With GYEON Bathe the glide does the gentle work, and your coating or wax stays untouched.

  • pH 6 — your coating and your wax stay put. The formula sits in the neutral range and lifts neither ceramic coatings (GYEON MOHS, say), sealants nor hard waxes. You wash a coated car across the full life of the coating without ever having to plan a shampoo swap. With alkaline shampoos the hydrophobic performance drops measurably after every wash — with a pH-neutral wash it doesn't.
  • Big foam plus slickness. 15 to 20 ml in a 10-litre wash bucket builds a stable foam blanket that stands for 20 to 30 minutes. More important than the looks: the foam carries dirt particles mechanically away from the paint, and the slickness drops the friction between mitt and clear coat. That's your measurable scratch protection on the two-bucket workflow.
  • 1:500 dilution — 1 litre gets you about 50 washes. At 15 to 20 ml per bucket, the 1-litre bottle gives you between 50 and 66 full car washes — that works out at 0.45 to 0.60 EUR per wash depending on how often you wash. The 4-litre jug drops the per-litre price again and pays off from the second car or across a season of weekly washing.

Day-to-day from Detailing1: The most common slip with GYEON Bathe is dosing by eye. Tip a "decent splash" into the water and you're quickly at 40 to 50 ml in the bucket, washing at double strength. The foam doesn't get any better for it, the rinse-off turns into a chore, and you get white residue left around the trim. Measure 15 to 20 ml into warm water at 30 to 40 °C with a measuring cup. Warm water fires up the surfactants faster and you can hear the foam holding better — the one step that matters most and the bottle never mentions on the back.

1:500 dilution. Warm water. Two-bucket.

You mix GYEON Bathe at a 1:500 dilution — that's 15 to 20 millilitres to a 10-litre wash bucket. Pre-rinse the car with clean water first to flush off loose dust and grit before the mitt ever touches the paint. This step is your single biggest scratch protection before the wash itself — no shampoo on earth makes up for quartz dust ground into the clear coat.

Put the warm water in the bucket first, then pour the Bathe in — not the other way round, or the dose bubbles over and the strength climbs out of your control. Wash panel by panel, top down from the roof.

Between panels, rinse the mitt in the second bucket of clean water — that's the two-bucket workflow, which pulls the dirt out of the mitt before it goes back on the paint.

Bathe runs reliably through a foam lance too, though it isn't built as a straight pre-wash foam. Reckon on a dilution of around 50 ml to 1 litre of lance mix and give the foam 3 to 5 minutes of dwell time before you rinse.

Foaming up in direct sun makes no sense — on hot paint the foam dries out in minutes and leaves water spots behind. Aim for outdoor temperatures between 10 and 20 °C or a shaded garage.

To finish, rinse thoroughly with clean water until no more foam runs off, and dry straight away with a soft drying towel. Air-dried cars pick up water spots from the dissolved minerals — especially in hard-water areas, drying within 5 minutes of the rinse is a must, not a suggestion.

GYEON Q²M Bathe in use, two-bucket foam wash

Bathe washes. Bugs and tar, it doesn't.

On regular road grime, dust, pollen and salt residue Bathe works reliably — that's its home turf. The pH-neutral formula is built squarely for the recurring wash, not the deep clean after three months of city traffic with no care. That's its strength and its limit in one.

Heavily baked-on bug splatter, tar spots and tree sap, Bathe won't shift reliably. The neutral surfactants simply don't have the chemical bite to break down chitin or bitumen.

If you've got bugs on the bonnet, work with a dedicated bug remover like the Q²M Bug&Grime as a pre-wash step. Loosen it alkaline first, let it dwell, rinse, then run the full wash with GYEON Bathe.

Against baked-on brake dust on paintwork too (after car parks by rail lines or building sites) Bathe is powerless — that's a job for an iron remover like GYEON Q²M Iron. Same goes for water spots from limescale tap water: Bathe washes over them but doesn't take them off. Managing expectations is the key thing here — this is a weekly maintenance shampoo, not a decontamination tool.

To set it apart from its big brother Q²M Bathe+: the Bathe+ also packs SiO₂ and lays down a hydrophobic protection layer with every wash that holds for around 6 to 8 weeks.

If you want to wash a freshly coated car regularly without boosting on top, the regular GYEON Bathe is plenty. If you've got no coating but still want beading and a touch of extra protection, the Bathe+ is the better call. Both are pH-neutral and coating-safe — the choice comes down to the side effect you want, not the cleaning power.

For coating owners who wash every week.

Bathe is the right call for anyone running a ceramic coating or a long-life hard wax on the paint who doesn't want to undo that protection across its full life. No exceptions, no debate — an alkaline shampoo eats into any coating measurably within a handful of washes. So if you've put money into GYEON MOHS, Q² One or a hard wax, you wash pH-neutral. That's not a recommendation, it's a technical must.

For light washers (once a month or less) Bathe is solid but not essential. Wash rarely and you usually carry heavier dirt per wash, and you'll do better with an alkaline pre-wash plus a neutral main shampoo. Then Bathe becomes the second step of a two-stage process — useful, but no substitute for a dedicated deep-clean shampoo like Q²M RestartWash.

Day-to-day at Detailing1 we run Bathe paired with a soft microfibre dry and a solid wash mitt. That's the full care workflow for coated cars — pre-rinse, foam lance, two-bucket hand wash, clean rinse, dry within 5 minutes. Under 25 minutes per car, every week.

On bottle sizes: the 500 ml bottle is the compact way in for around 25 to 33 washes — ideal for checking the scent and the foam. The 1-litre bottle is the standard size for one household and lasts close to 12 months at a weekly wash. The 4-litre jug pays off from the multi-car household or commercial use and brings the per-litre price down noticeably.

Store frost-free and use up within 12 months of opening — after that the foam stability drops off noticeably. The biggest difference between GYEON Bathe and cheap shampoos stays simple in the end: you wash your car 50 times from one bottle, and your coating survives all 50 washes unharmed.

Frequently Asked Questions about GYEON Q²M Bathe

What is GYEON Q²M Bathe?

GYEON Q²M Bathe is a pH-neutral car shampoo from the Q²M series with a pH of 6. The mild surfactants dissolve road grime without attacking ceramic coatings, wet sealants, or hard waxes. It is characterized by high foam formation and additional slickness, which significantly reduces micro-scratches during washing.

How do I use GYEON Bathe correctly?

Add 15 to 20 milliliters to 10 liters of warm water (30 to 40 °C) — this corresponds to 1:500. First rinse the vehicle with clear water, then wash panel by panel from top to bottom using the two-bucket workflow. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and dry within 5 minutes with a soft microfiber towel.

What is the difference between Bathe and Bathe+?

The regular Bathe is a classic pH-neutral car shampoo without a sealant component. Bathe+ additionally contains SiO₂ and applies a hydrophobic protective layer with every wash, which lasts for about 6 to 8 weeks. If you already have a coating, the regular Bathe is sufficient. Without a coating and if you want a beading effect, Bathe+ is the better choice.

Is Bathe suitable for ceramic coatings?

Yes. The pH of 6 and the mild surfactants do not attack GYEON MOHS, Q² One, Syncro, or other ceramic coatings. Wet sealants and hard waxes also remain unaffected. An alkaline shampoo would measurably attack any of these protective layers in a few washes — the pH-neutral Bathe is a technical prerequisite, not a recommendation, for coating-protected vehicles.

What happens if I over-dose Bathe?

Those who dose by eye quickly end up with 40 to 50 milliliters per bucket — i.e., double the concentration. This does not make the foam cleaner, but rinsing becomes tedious, and white residues remain on trim strips and panel gaps. Additionally, the slickness decreases, which reduces scratch protection. Always dose with a measuring cup: 15 to 20 ml per 10 liters of warm water.

How many washes does one bottle last?

The 500 ml bottle, with 15 to 20 ml per wash, is sufficient for 25 to 33 complete vehicle washes. The 1-liter bottle yields 50 to 66 washes and is the standard size for a household. The 4-liter gallon provides about 200 to 266 washes and pays off from the second vehicle or in continuous commercial use due to the lower liter price.

Application of GYEON Q²M Bathe

From pre-rinse to drying in under 25 minutes

First, completely rinse the vehicle with clear water – before the wash mitt touches the paint. Loose dust and sand must be removed, otherwise they will rub like sandpaper over the clear coat during washing. This step is the most important scratch protection of the entire wash and cannot be replaced by any shampoo.

In the wash bucket, add 10 liters of warm water between 30 and 40 °C, then add 15 to 20 ml of Bathe using a measuring cup – not the other way around, otherwise it will foam over and the concentration will increase uncontrollably. Warm water activates the surfactants faster and noticeably increases foam stability. For a foam lance, a sensible dilution is about 50 ml per 1 liter of lance mixture with an application time of 3 to 5 minutes.

Wash panel by panel from top to bottom. First, dip the wash mitt into bucket 1, wash the panel, rinse the mitt in bucket 2 with clear water, and only then return to bucket 1 – this is the two-bucket workflow, which removes dissolved dirt from the mitt before it returns to the paint.

After washing, completely rinse the vehicle from top to bottom with a strong jet of water until no more foam runs off. Pay attention to trim strips, panel gaps, and wheel arches. Within 5 minutes, dry with a soft microfiber drying towel – air-dried vehicles will get water spots due to dissolved minerals in tap water.

Notes: Do not use in direct sunlight or on hot paint – the foam layer will dry in minutes and leave water spots. Ideal outside temperatures are between 10 and 20 °C or a shady garage. For baked-on insect residues or tar, use a specialized insect remover such as Q²M Bug&Grime beforehand – Bathe alone does not dissolve chitin and bitumen. Store frost-free between 5 and 30 °C, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Use within 12 months after opening, after which foam stability noticeably decreases.
