What do I use FineCut for? — As a stage-2 polish after a coarse cut, FineCut lifts haze and holograms, visibly clears up the paint and sets up a high-gloss, clean finish ready for your sealant — fast, low-dust, repeatable.
THE FINISHER FineCut Stage 2 Polish is your precise refining step after defect correction. It takes cut marks, grey haze and light swirls out of the clear coat, finishes down smoothly and leaves a calm, high-gloss look — the perfect bridge between coarse correction (RoughCut) and protection (BodyGuard or wax-based finishes). Day-to-day that means less rework, clean wipe-off and reliable results on common OEM clear coats — spot on for daily drivers, sales prep and "clearing up" after spot corrections.
Stage-2 polish means controlled removal with a fine finishing character. FineCut's microabrasives grab the leftover defects from the cut, break down evenly and, at the end, finish very fine. The moderately oily carrier matrix keeps the pad "open" for a long time, cuts down dry running and helps a smear-free wipe-off. The result is a clear, crisp gloss with no "milky" zones and clearly fewer holograms — the ideal starting point for any sealant. Because FineCut doesn't leave heavy fillers sitting on top, the look stays stable and doesn't fall apart after the first wash.
Automotive workflow: after pre-wash (TropicSnow), hand wash (MagicShampoo) and, if needed, a coarse step with RoughCut, you work panel by panel. Start with a medium-hard foam pad; switch to a soft finishing pad on sensitive, soft clear coats, while on hard, durable paints a medium-firm foam can improve the bite. Prime the pad thin, 3–4 drops of product, spread it on a low speed, then polish in even cross-hatch passes with moderate pressure until the film goes visibly and noticeably "thin". At the end, back off the pressure and stroke speed a touch ("jeweling") to pull out that last bit of gloss. Work edges and fresh paint gently, keep off plastics or tape them up. Wipe residue off fully with a fresh, dense microfibre — the finish should look dry, clear and cloud-free. After that you seal to taste: fast and hydrophobic with BodyGuard, classic deep gloss with ShineSpeedPolish as a wax-based finish, or a quick "pop" in between with JustPerfect.
Compatibility & limits: FineCut works brilliantly on most OEM clear coats — on very hard paints it may need a longer set or a slightly bittier pad, on very soft paints a gentle, short follow-up with a soft pad helps. When time is tight and you need defect removal and finish in one go, reach for PowerSpeedPolish as a one-step. If there are only fine wash marks and you want protection, ShineSpeedPolish (wax polish) is often enough. Don't polish matte paints/wraps or PPF — you'd change the matte level or the glossy look you didn't mean to touch. After FineCut, a layer of protection always goes onto the clean finish: BodyGuard for hard-wearing hydrophobicity or — if you fancy it — a waxy finish. Clean towels, cool panels and shade are a must; if a pad starts dusting, it's overloaded — blow it out or swap it.
RoughCut is the coarse defect removal (step 1), FineCut refines afterwards: it takes out haze/holograms and brings clarity to the look. The two build on each other.
A DA gives the safest, hologram-free result. Only work with a rotary if you're experienced, and calm the surface down with a short DA finishing pass.
With correct dosing, cool panels and clean pads it's low-dust. Dust usually comes from overloaded pads or too much heat — blow out/swap pads regularly.
Yes. Take off the residue fully and then seal with BodyGuard or — if you like — set a waxy tone with ShineSpeedPolish/WaxPolish.
In spots yes, e.g. after stronger steps, but you'll work large gelcoat areas more efficiently with PerfectOne (one-step) and then lock them in with WaxPolish/BodyGuard.
